The action in the TV series "Spartacus:
Gods of the Arena" takes place before Spartacus appears in Capua.
Quintus Lentulus Batiatus takes over his father’s power and becomes the
head of the gladiators' ludus in Capua. Batiatus’ family is prospering
owing to Gannicus, the champion of gladiators' fighting. Oenomaus is
training together with other gladiators, preparing to his requital with
Theokoles. Quintus Batiatus is training his gladiators very hard,
willing to add more to the glory of his family and is ready to deal
shortly with anybody on his way to power. Batiatus’ wife Lucretia, a
self-seeking and insidious woman, helps her husband in acquiring more
power. Her efforts are supplemented by her seductive friend Gaia. During
their promenade batiatus and Solonius see a slave named Crixus fighting
with another slave. Seeing this, Batiatus decides to buy Crixus,
generously overpaying for him. This how the story of Capua’s future
champion begins.
